April 2014 Resolution Report

April Resolution Report - with merit badgesTime for a report on how the new year’s resolutions are coming along.

That is a very short string of badges for the month. Letting my least-favorite (that is – the hardest) resolutions slide in March just slid right into April too. ๐Ÿ™ I’ll need to get refocused in May.

On the plus side – all my badges this month are the fun ones!

April Resolution Report - with merit badgesSofties for Charity

Not only did I make a couple more bears for kids at my local battered women’s shelter – I finally released the Charity Bear pattern I’ve been tweaking all year!

Get the Charity Bear pattern here.

April Resolution Report - with merit badgesFinancial Goals

I have a sales goal for Shiny Happy World every month.

I met my goal for April, so I get a badge!

Kind of boring – but also kind of essential for me as a business owner. ๐Ÿ™‚

And I’ve made that goal every month this year so far, so I’m pretty excited about that!

April Resolution Report - with merit badgesNew Recipes

My favoriteย resolution!

Here’s what I tried in April. . .

  • The carrot cake cupcake recipe from Robicelli’s: A Love Story with Cupcakes. I usually steer clear of cake recipes that use oil instead of butter but these were delicious!
  • As soon as Jo saw this recipe for Cookie Dough Truffles she HAD to make them. They were very, very sweet. ๐Ÿ™‚
  • This Blackened Seafood Pasta was delicious (though too spicy for Jo). I loved it so much that I’m making it for the authors at the retreat this week.
  • This Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup was also fantastic. I usually substitute spinach for kale in soups (I don’t know why – but kale kind of scared me). No more! Part of the thinking behind this resolution was to stretch my cooking a bit and try new ingredients, so I went with the kale the recipe called for and it was delicious!

No weight loss badge this month. ๐Ÿ™ No workout badge either. And I’ve been reading the newest Game of Thrones book and those are just crazy long. I didn’t even finish the one book this month – let alone four. So no reading badge.

But look at all the badges so far for the year!

I love the Game of Thrones. I’ve read 5 of them and am anxiously awaiting the 6th and 7th.
The HBO show isn’t to shabby either! But, reading one Game of Thrones is like reading 4 books!
