I’ve shown you how to cut strips using basic rotary cutting tools. In today’s video I’ll show you how to join those strips together and how to use an inexpensive tool to make your own bias tape.
There are a few different brands of bias tape makers out there – you should be able to find them in any big box fabric store.
Dear Wendi,
When we use packaged bias tape, how do we sew in the corners? The same way as you showed in the binding a quilt video?
Thanks 🙂
Beatriz
Hi Wendi,
Thanks a lot for this very helpful video. You and your videographer do an excellent job. The link takes me to Joann’s listing for this but says it’s no longer available; however, I did find one at my local Joann’s so hurray! I’m looking forward to making my own bias tape.

Have fun with it! (And sorry about the broken link.) 🙂
Hi Wendi,
Great tutorial! Wish I’d had it 20 years ago when I started quilting–lots of trial and error led me to the “tube method” for making binding, but I’m going to refer to your tips next time I need to make one from smaller pieces of fabric, which would also be perfect for using a bunch of different fabrics for a more fanciful binding.
Thanks!
Kate Sullivan
Thanks Kate! I do love binding quilts with a variety of scraps. 🙂
