My Craftsy class is LIVE!
And have I got a deal for you!
But first – let’s move my big head out of the way so you can see the whole quilt. 🙂
You guys saw bits and pieces in the sneak peeks last week, but here’s the entire thing – my Woodland Critters Quilt.
There are 9 different animals, 6 mushrooms, and 4 trees. You also get an alphabet so you can add animal sounds like this. . .
These examples are crib size, but I also include layouts for napping and twin size quilts. That’s the napping size hanging on the wall behind me in the top photo – my favorite size for couch use.
What’s that in front of me? It’s an owl quilt!
I took just one block from the Woodland Critters Quilt and went crazy with all my favorite colors and fun decorative stitches and made this beauty. I love how some of the owls are sleepy and some of them are grumpy. It’s super easy to make the change and I show you how in the class.
The class! Let me tell you what’s in the class!
(I can’t believe how much we packed into seven video lessons!)
I get a lot of emails from people saying they wish I could just come to their house and show them how to make a quilt from start to finish.
This is the next best thing. I show EVERYTHING!
- How I choose fabric
- How I true up my fabric and cut background blocks
- How I quilt my blocks before adding applique
- Fusible applique basics – my favorite products and how to use them
- My tricks for marking faces and how to handle overlapping bits
- Lots and lots of options for doing the eyes (the hardest bit)
- How I outline stitch all the pieces
- Fancy stitching options
- How to appliqué on knits (you’ll see me appliqué a fox on an adorable baby onesie)
- How to join those already-quilted blocks
- How to back the quilt and finish quilting it
- How to bind the quilt
See what I mean? It’s not just an appliqué class – it’s also a beginning quilting class and a QAYG class. You get to keep the class forever and watch it as many times as you like. You can pause it at any time. There’s a handy “go back 30 seconds” button. And you can ask me questions at any time. It’s fantastic!
Update – Please be aware that Craftsy (now Bluprint) has added a subscription plan to their offerings, which changes the way instructor support happens. If you buy the class for your Forever Library, you get instructor support – which means your questions are posted to a special instructor dashboard where I can see them and answer them. If you watch the class as part of the streaming subscription, any questions you post go to the larger class community – not to me. I never even see them, so I can’t answer them.
It’s normally $34.99 (which I think is a terrific price for an exclusive pattern plus all that video content)
but for the first week of the release I have a special discount for you. $20 off! Use this link to get the discounted price. And use it now – because that is a crazy price and it’s only available until midnight EST on Monday 8/10.
The crazy launch discount is expired now, but Craftsy is almost always having some kind of sale. Use this link to get the best current price. 🙂
You can also get the PDF pattern here. It has links to videos I made myself without the fancy Craftsy video production. 🙂
Congratulations! I’m so happy to add this quilt to my Shiny Happy World pattern folder. Even though I’ve watched your tutorials and made some of the applique’ quilts already, I’m sure I’ll learn even more watching the in-depth lessons. Can’t wait to get started!
Yes – there are things I cover in the class that I haven’t done yet on my site. I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
I bought the class. Thanks so much! I can’t start, yet, but I will be soon. I’ve been waiting for this. I’m so excited.
Yay! Thank you so much! And the good thing is that now that you own it – it’s yours WHENEVER WORKS BEST FOR YOU. I love that about online classes!
I just bought the class! Yay! It came at the perfect time too since I am just beginning my first quilt from your patterns! It will be so helpful having all the steps laid out for me. Plus another adorable quilt pattern too! I’m so excited! I’m combining the puppy quilt and the cat quilt for my daughter’s bed as her new theme is… Puppies and kitties. She’s so excited! Thank you!
You can use the techniques in the class for any of my appliqué patterns, so feel free to jump right in to the puppy and kitty blocks if you like. And the blocks for the Craftsy quilt are the same size as the blocks for the puppies and kitties, so you can use those layouts and add words too, if you like. Maybe your daughter’s name? Have fun! 🙂
Just purchased your class…looking forward to watching and creating along!!!!
I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
I am heading over to purchase your class. I am very excited to take this class. I have 2 new grandsons and really want to make them a special keepsake. Thank you for the discount, so generous! Congratulations on your Craftsy class!
Thanks so much! And welcome! 🙂
Wendi, you look fabulous! How fun to dress up and sew! Your simple shapes allow for great latitude in choosing fabrics from my stash to persobnalize the quilt. Especailly fun is quilting each bock differently using the QAYG techinque. I bought the class and will start soon. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I hope you have fun in the class! 🙂
Just signed up for my first Craftsy class ever. A great deal! Your blog has been very informative for this novice, so I’m happy for you that you can get some $$ for your thorough and patient teaching skills. My motivation is my first grandchild. Thanks!
Yay! I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
Thanks for the class link. I watch craftsy with my small girls. They saw the promo and begged for the class.
We will be picking out some fabrics this weekend.
Have fun! Choosing fabrics is my favorite part. 🙂
I am so excited, I just signed up for my first Craftsy class. I have been receiving Craftsy emails for months with enticements to take a class at a discounted rate, but I always blew it off—–but when I saw that you were offering a class I just had to sign up! I love your blog, and I enjoy your tutorials because you cover all of the basics & you are never boring. Thank you for your generosity, your free patterns and wonderful video tutorials. Can’t wait to get started with your Craftsy class. Blessings!
Yay! Welcome to the class! I can’t wait to see what you make! 🙂
I love your projects and am very excited about this quilting class on Craftsy. I have bought and followed a few Craftsy knit and crochet classes and find all of them great learning tools and platforms. Will you be providing a kit for this class?
Thank you for expanding your teaching skills to other easy to access and affordable portals.
Right now there are no plans for a kit, but I’m talking to Timeless Treasures about becoming a seller for their fabrics so I can put together fat quarter bundles of my favorite collections – like all the green batiks I use for the backgrounds and the tone-on-tone prints I use for the appliqués.
I watched the entire class in one sitting! It was full of great information. I am a novice applique-r, and I now feel much more confident because of your class. Thank you!
I’m so glad! Have fun with your quilt. 🙂
I just came across your woodland quilt and I am in love! The problem is-I don’t quilt, sew or do anything else craft related! Are you available to make one for purchase? I have been searching high and low for something like this for my son’s nursery, and this is by far the best I’ve seen. Please let me know when you can. Thank you!
Sorry – I don’t sell any finished quilts. But you’re welcome to post to the Shiny Happy People group on Facebook and make a request there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/854216274691588/ There are a lot of talented people in the group and I know some of them sell their work.
How much would it be to just purchase the pattern for these animals on the quilt? My stepmom is going to make me a quilt for my baby due in March and all she would need is the pattern for the crib size.
It’s $14.99 for just the pattern. You can get it here. http://shop.shinyhappyworld.com/collections/quilt-patterns/products/woodland-critters-quilt-pattern
